This figurehead represents St. Anthony. It was carved around 1880 and was originally part of a Portuguese sailing ship. The figurehead is unpainted and measures 150cm from top to bottom.
From 1964 it decorated the exterior wall of the St. Willehad chapel in Cuxhaven before being transferred on permanent loan to the German Maritime Museum in 1980, where it has been restored. The Catholic parish in Cuxhaven received a replica. The church had been presented with the original in 1917 as a gift from German Navy personnel.
