Santa Maria del Mar is a Gothic church from the XIV century, built by the architect Berenguer de Montagut in commemoration of the conquest of Sardinia by the king of Aragó, Pere III. This event completed the Catalan domination in the Mediterranean, which started with King Jaume I one hundred years before.
