The Polish Maritime Museum in Gdansk, established on 1 October 1960, is the largest of its kind in Poland, having a national range. It has been documenting and popularizing Poland’s maritime heritage as well as the evolution of her maritime policies, economics, technology and culture. A very large number of items in the Museum’s collections are absolutely unique.

The Museum is located in the heart of the old port of Gdansk, hosting the Great Crane, the next-door building of the former colonial goods warehouse and the Granaries on Olowianka Island on the other side of the Motlawa River. What is more, the Museum has the branches in Hel, Tczew and Katy Rybackie and maintains two museum-ships: the “Soldek” in Gdansk and the “Dar Pomorza” in Gdynia.
