The PAMIR was one of the flying-p-line ships, owned by the shipping company Laeisz in Hamburg. She was a four mast bark, build in 1905 and was one of the fastest ships the shipping company had. The PAMIR was the last sailing vessel which rounded the Kap Hoorn without auxiliary engine. In the 1950ties she was used as cargo carrying training ship. Next to the PASSAT, likewise a ship of the fyling-p-line, she was one of the last three cargo carrying big sailers. 1957 she sank in a hurrican. There were only six survivors. Most of the crew were juvenescent cadetts.
