The drawings for the joint freight and passenger steamer SIRIUS (built 1885) is one of the especially appealing technical drawings in the archives of the German Maritime Museum.
The ship was launched on January 26, 1885 at the Flensburger Schiffsbau-Gesellschaft. About three months later, on May 13, 1885, the Bergen based Norwegian shipping line "Det Bergenske Dampskibsselskab" put the SIRIUS into service. After more than 55 years of faithful service in the rough waters of the Norwegian coast, the trusty steamer fell victim to a German air raid in the Solberg Fjord in May 1940
